(Rob) Robert N.G. Piggott is a New Zealand fine visual-artist working in the field of Contemporary Abstract painting and printmaking.

The ROBERT PIGGOTT ART GALLERY, combined with his working studio, opened on the 8th April 2016 in the city of Dunedin in New Zealand’s, South Island. The gallery holds regular exhibitions of Robert’s work, as well as a variety of shows of other NZ Contemporary fine artists, along with occasional musical events.

Sat / Sun: 10am - 4pm

Mon / Tues: 12 - 2pm

Since 1975, Robert has participated in numerous group shows, and held over 40 solo exhibitions throughout NZ.

He was awarded a Master of Fine Arts Degree with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 2000.

Alongside a committed studio practice, Robert also works part-time as a Special Needs teacher at Kaikorai Valley College in Dunedin.

Piggott’s abstract artworks are his personal visual statements. and self-reflections. Yet he purposefully leaves them ‘open to interpretation’ by the viewer.

Over the years his multiform work has developed throughout various inventive and evolving styles, or series.

His work has been described at different times as linking to themes such as Personal Identity & Philosophy, Music, Mysticism & Spirituality, as well as his personal response to the Land and the interweaving of his European/New Zealand/Asian cultural connections.

Piggott’s work has received international exposure, including ART TAIPEI 2007 and group exhibitions in Taipei through 2008.

His work can be found in collections throughout New Zealand, and around the globe.
